Technical Architecture & Core Third-Party Libraries

The Budget-Layer software relies on several integrated third-party tools to handle rich text formatting, date selection, and enhanced search interfaces. All required library files are pre-packaged with the installation.

Integrated Libraries & Plugins

1. CKEditor (Rich-Text Content)

• Purpose: Enables HTML formatting with advanced text styling for expense item descriptions. This ensures readable, well-formatted descriptions for both digital displays and printed reports within the plan plugin.

• Configuration: Can be toggled on or off directly within the Administrative Configuration Panel.

• Updates: Included in the base package, but updated versions can be downloaded directly from the author's site:

2. jQuery DateTimePicker Plugin

• Purpose: Provides a calendar popup and time-selector widget for setting date and hour fields across expense items and plan modules.

• Updates: Included in the base package. To update to a newer version, replace the plugin files located within the widget admin template directory:

3. Harvest Chosen Plugin

• Purpose: Converts standard <select> dropdown menus into interactive search fields featuring dynamic autocomplete functionality. Applied across all select menus, including the sidebar search filters.

• Updates: Pre-installed in the application. Upgrade files can be updated directly within the widget admin template directory:

Server Requirements & Security Settings

The software is lightweight, self-contained, and requires no external dependencies or remote script calls. For optimal performance and security, ensure your hosting environment meets these prerequisites:

• Security & Permissions: An SSL certificate (HTTPS) is strongly recommended. Write permissions must be enabled on application directories to allow plugin uploads and inline file edits.
